This is an outdoor elevator which transports people from the restaurant to the underground glacier train (Funiculaire in French). I had several shots of this scene in which I tried to obscure the sun, but in the end the shot with the sun visible and the lens flare turned out best.

While in Les Deux Alpes, we went to the top of the glacier with a PistenBully, which is the actual brand name of these machines (’Pisten’ is German for ‘Slopes’). I managed to take this shot when we were allowed to get out, while sinking in the snow wearing my regular shoes and shorts. Quite chilly when you’re at 3600 meters (11811 feet).

While hiking down from the restaurant “Le diable au coeur” and the village of “Les Deux Alpes” in the French Alps, I spotted this picnic table. Too bad I didn’t have an ACME picnic kit to quickly equip this table with a white table cloth with red dots, a bottle of wine, some french bread, … which would have made this picture complete.

While hiking down from Les 2 Alpes to Venosc, I came across this lovely old chapel. I tried to find some more information about it on the internet, but it seems there is not much to find about this chapel, even about Venosc in general. So, no story this time, just this picture:

Sorry for the lack of new posts lately but I had some busy weeks.
First I got married (Pictures will follow later because I find it quite hard to select/edit pictures of myself…) and afterwards I went on a semi-honeymoon. My girlfriend - wife - … (Just saying wife still sounds weird :) ) had to go on a business trip to Les 2 Alpes in France so I went along and tried to improve my photo skills a bit. You can expect a lot of pictures the following weeks as I try to get through them all.

As the first picture of the series I present to you: “Charlotte the Marmot”. Those of you who know me a bit, will remember my squirrel fascination. This “little” fellow is an Alpine Marmot, which is the largest squirrel species. Squirrels FTW!

After months of nagging, my girlfriend won the battle, we got a cat. Don’t get me wrong, I love cats and have always had cats at home. My argument against getting a cat was that we do not spend enough time at home and love to travel, but well, we’ll see how that works out :)
We named him Freggels which is the dutch name of the tv series “Fraggle rock”.

Here’s a picture of Freggels having some quality time:
