A few months ago, in March, I received a very strange email.
The email said that I had to call a certain number to find out if I won a trip to Bermuda. I was pretty sure that it was just some spam, but a part of me was so curious, so I called the number that was in the email. A woman picked up and she said: Ine, you have won a trip to the Bermuda Triangle. The trip included plane tickets, hotel, and some extra cash for two persons.
I really didn’t believe it. I never win something, it had to be fake. But then I remembered that I was searching for an example of a viral marketing campaign, for work, and I found one of Doritos.
The competition was called “Get lost”. You had to answer a question to win: “What is the one thing you don’t want to lose?” I can’t even remember what my answer was, but I won the trip.
Bermuda, here we come!! It was my first time that I went to a tropical destination like that. A pretty cool experience. I would not go there again, but it’s amazing to get a trip like that for free. We did a lot of things on the island, visited the aquarium, rented some scooters,… But one thing that I will never forget is the whale watching. This was the first time I saw a whale, and it was amazing.
March and April is whale watching season. We cruised along Bermuda’s south shore with Captain Mike “Moby Dick” Heslop, a ten year veteran of safe whale interaction. They had a glass bottom boat the “Looking Glass”. It was perfect for observing the incredible humpback whales on their migration North. You can get up close and look at these awe inspiring creatures in their natural habitat.

We were told, that if we had pictures of whale’s fluke that we could send them to College of the Atlantic. They can check the identity of the whale based on their fluke. We sent our picture and they are taking them through the catalog, so we are still waiting. If they don’t find it in the catalog we can give the whale a new name. So let’s hope that soon we have our very own whale.
