Today we took the Sea to Sky Highway to Whistler. Except for the Icefield Parkway, I think one of the most beautiful roads I’ve ever drove on.

A lot of construction works along the road (because of the winter Olympics in 2010), but still a nice scenic drive.

The drive took about 2 hours which is not a lot if you are driving on the Sea to the Sky and if you know that you’re going to arrive in a beautiful winter resort. I know it’s probably one of the most expensive resorts in the neighborhood but it is worth a visit.

The only downside of today: neither the gondola nor the chairlift was open. They were closed for the season because of the winter maintenance. This was pretty disappointing because I wanted to see the construction site of the peak 2 peak gondola (it’s a gondola between Whistler mountain and Blackcomb, highest point above ground 436m) It opens on December the 12th (I’m pretty sure I will be reconsidering things before I enter the sky cabin….)

After a very very very spicy Mexican wrap at the longhorn saloon we decided to get back to Vancouver and make some stops along the way. One of those totally unsuspected stops was Brackendale, winter home of the bald eagle (we’ve been searching for bald eagles for a while until we’ve noticed it was “winter” home…).

We stopped at Bald ealgle run, we were walking along the river and suddenly a small seal showed his head. The seal was fishing for salmon. Of course, since we are “mister and misses we love to see wildlife” we stood there for a while, trying to get a good picture of the seal. This is the best I got:

That’s it for today. Tomorrow we’ll be staying in (the weather forecast is pretty negative) and do some house searching and as for me, some job searching. And how could I forget: we also need to study for our theoretical test (drivers license).
Have a nice day everybody!

Bedankt hiervoor:)
