On Thursday evening I went to Whistler. Whistler was opening it’s mountains for skiing and snowboarding on Friday.
There wasn’t any snow in the village when we arrived, but when we woke up on Friday, there was a white carpet at our doorstep. Because one of the people I was with, had a dog, we had to drop him off at daycare. Isn’t it amazing, they actually have daycare for dogs. So people who want to enjoy a day at the mountain, can just drop of their pet. No worries at all, because daycare really takes good care of them. They take them out for walks, they play with them,… Really incredible…
Not all of the slopes were open, but we had a really nice time on Friday. Because it wasn’t too crowded we were able to do a few runs. The slopes are amazing. For some reason it’s totally different than the ski resorts in Europe. Except for the fact that is was snowing all day long and it was pretty cold, we had a cool day. It was actually weird to be snowboarding in Canada:)
On Friday evening, after snowboarding, an Irish coffee (with way too much whiskey in it) and a few beers later, the guys arrived. We had a comfortable evening on the couch in front of the fireplace and we watched television and played a board game.
On Saturday we all went up the mountain again. This time we tried Whistler Mountain (instead of Blackcomb mountain on Friday). It was pretty crowded so we were not able to do a lot of runs, but we all enjoyed our day and of course the whole weekend! We met some great people and we learned a few things about Vancouver and Canada. So thanks to all of you guys!
